My Score: 8.5/10
Director: Kitaji Ishikawa
Summary: A girl is too tall while a boy is too short.
Though the girl is determined never to fall for any guy shorter than she is, she soon finds herself falling in love with her short friend. But… does he feel the same about her?
Based on a manga of the same name.
Review: Yes, this movie came out six years ago, but I just watched it again with my sister and had to do a review~
This is such a fun movie. I forgot how funny it was. My sister an I kept laughing… once with had to rewind and play a part over again because we were almost crying with laughter, haha!
There’s a little bit of drama, but it’s mostly a good blend of comedy and romance.
I liked all the little details they put into the set. There were little bits of cuteness and interesting things put in here and there that made it extra fun to watch. For example, Risa’s bedroom and the karaoke place – the decor was perfectly shoujo.
The actress for Risa, Ema Fujisawa, was pretty goofy, but still charming in her own way. She fit the comedy feeling well.
I fell in love with Teppei Koike all over again. He is just too utterly adorable… and the things he’d wear…! He was perfect for this role, (though he’s nicer than the manga version haha)!
One thing that was a problem, was the English narration. It was really difficult for us to understand it. However, I think that might have just been a volume issue. It probably got a bit distorted when it was uploaded or something.
Another problem would be… well… their height difference wasn’t that big. It would’ve been good if they could pull it off a bit better in every scene.
This movie was a perfect promotion for the manga, but it didn’t even feel like it was one. It was a good film on it’s own.
The manga itself is 17 volumes, so of course it’s impossible for the movie to cover even half of that, (though the storyline is kind of different, the characters are pretty much the same… besides the side characters). Therefore, if you like this movie, I highly recommend the manga as well. I mean, my two favorite side characters couldn’t even make it into this movie, hehe.
