Summary: A guy is being followed by loan sharks. By a chance encounter, he ends up literally running into a very rich girl. He’s eventually hired by her father as her butler to help turn her into a better person, since she’s a spoiled brat. He plans on seducing her to get money to pay off his debt… but falls in love with her in the process.
Review: Okay, my main concern when I started watching this was that it would be similar to the kdrama “Witch Amusement”… in which the main character is basically just a b!tch lol. It turned out to be much better.
Yes, Kang Hye Na is a horrible brat (at first), but she has a definite innocent child-like aura to her that makes it forgiving. You can really tell that she’s that way because she was spoiled and is just immature. Another good thing is her character development. She doesn’t stay the same for the whole drama… you can see her maturing throughout the whole series; not just abruptly at the end.
Seo Dong Chan is very sexy. He appears to be everything most girls would want; caring, intelligent, and mature. However, he’s really not perfect. He starts out the series with bad intentions and he has a questionable past. Not to mention his totally frustrating sense of responsibility that causes him to impose his own idea of what’s “right” onto others without any warning.
Now, I’ve heard a few other people claim that there’s no chemistry between the characters. I disagree. There’s definitely chemistry, though it might not be the mind-blowing kind you get from the drama Coffee Prince. I had no problem feeling the love between the two main characters. There was even a point where I thought “Wow, it’s obvious that Kang Hye Na really loves Seo Dong Chan.” This is when she does little things for him that she didn’t even think about doing for her previous love interest.
Unfortunately, there are a few cliche parts to this drama which make me give it a lower rating.
For example, the “villian” is the typical disapproving-of-your-love rich grandfather, and the last dramatic scene in the drama is a typical airport chase scene (which partially redeemed itself by the cute interaction at the end of said scene).
Overall, I wasn’t disappointed, but I wasn’t blown away either… though I felt it was slightly better than average. I’d watch it again.
