Product Review: Punk Rave Exposed Knee Pants Review

Product: This time the piece of clothing are these short-converting bondage-style Japanese pants from Punk Rave. You’ll most likely find them on Ebay if you search “Kera”.

Interesting to note, the skirt on my pants are opposite than those in the photo, and it’s not turned backwards. The skull and grommets were over the zipper, not the buckles. (This photo might be of a prototype.)

Info: First off, these really appear to be authentic Punk Rave brand pants. They came in the original plastic packaging, have the spider button and label.

Now, I’m a size 8 or 9 in average pants sold in the United States. I bought a size XXL of these pants because that’s the size I got for the Punk Rave pants that fit me best. Those pants had the exact same measurements listed as these pants on the Ebay store (88 cm waist, 104 cm hips), so I thought they’d fit perfectly.

Well, these pants did fit me a lot better than the previous pants-to-shorts “Punk Rave” pants I bought from a different seller previously, (which were tight on the thighs but extremely wide in the hips).
However, they did not fit as perfectly as the other pair, (which were comfortably baggy, yet acceptably snug in all the right places).
I feel tempted to warn that the measurements listed in the Ebay store were wrong… these pants seem almost too tight. I’m not sure if I would’ve been able to get these on if they had been a centimeter smaller.

Adjustable strap to lower the bottom part.

These pants sit at the hips… maybe almost below the hips. At first they seemed shorter than usual, but then I realized that the bottom part of the pants are adjustable. The taller you are, the more space at the knees, so be aware of that!
The thighs aren’t tight, but they aren’t baggy, so if your thighs are much wider around than 21 inches, you might have problems getting these on.

There are strings at the back of the legs and they often come undone or people step on them. Double knotting does help. I appreciate that the strings are made out of nice cord and don’t look like they’ll be fraying or falling apart even with wear and tear.

Quality seems good so far. Nothing fell off when I put it on or anything.

Things I didn’t like about these pants were: It would’ve been nice to know that they sit on the hips instead of waist. Because of this, the space between my crotch and the top of the pants is fairly short and I’m just not used to this style at all. Just a minor thing I guess.

Oh, be careful going up stairs because they might trip you. I haven’t had problems going down stairs though.

I’ll update if anything bad happens because so far, all seems well.

Looks authentic!

Nice Detail: There is a patch on the detachable semi-skirt that comes with it that has the phrase “FUCK YOU” blatantly printed on it. What I like, is that it’s attached with safety pins, which makes it super easy to take off if you don’t like that or are wearing the pants to a place where that word isn’t acceptable.

Overall: Decently happy with these. I’d love it if they fit like my favorite Punk Rave pants, (it’s really strange that they don’t seem to have consistent sizing…?), but at least they fit better than those other pants I ordered!  I won’t be returning them or anything.

Where I bought mine: hammerhiroko on Ebay. First time I bought from them and I got the order in exactly 9 business days after my order went through. I’m impressed!
Price was very acceptable to me at about $54.00 with free shipping.
The packaging was great and arrived undamaged. The item looked like it had never been previously opened before it was sent to me and was in great condition.

(However, I have seen bad reviews for their packaging on their Ebay site, so be aware that when you order anything from China, it’s always a risk!)
