Linda Linda Linda Movie
My Score: 6.5/10
Director: Nobuhiro Yamashita
Summary: It’s just 3 days until the school festival and a small group of friends have to find a new vocalist for their band. On a spur-of-the-moment decision, they end up recruiting a Korean foreign-exchange student who knows very little Japanese. Not only that, but the keyboardist has to learn guitar in that short amount of time as well.
Review: I think the memories of a school festival is the main concept of this movie. It makes me want to look back on my highschool days when I watch this. The genre would be “slice-of-life”. It’s like you’re looking in on something really happening.
The concept was cute. The characters all interact in a real way, so it’s all very believable and easy to relate to, but the pacing is very slow and once in awhile, kind of boring. There’s a quiet and sweet kind of atmosphere to it.
Nevertheless, it did have it’s good moments. When a boy confesses to the exchange student, trying to use Korean to do so even though he obviously can’t speak it well, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. It was just too cute and amusing. However, these moments don’t happen often enough.
I almost want to give this a lower rating, but there was something about this movie that made me keep watching… probably the characters. I grew to like them and I wanted to see them succeed. And while the end was a bit predictable, I still felt energized when they finally performed in front of the audience. Plus, the soundtrack is really good.
My Score: 7/10
