Another song by Taeyang, as well as comebacks from Beast, ToppDogg, Boyfriend, ZE:A, and Gummy. And of course, Psy.
YB came out with another version of an MV from February that’s totally awesome.
Not much rap/hip hop this week, but illinit & i11evn posted an great collab that’s worth listening to.

illinit & i11evn – One Life Studio Live ↓↓↓
I really like this… it’s one of those songs that makes me feel excited when it starts playing because I think it’s so awesome.
So if you like rap, check it out.
YB – Cigarette Girl (version2 MV) ↓↓↓
Category: Hard Rock
Yoon Do Hyun Band is a very well-known rock band.
This MV is really fun. It tells more of a story than the last one and has interesting characters. It also throws in some animation. Very cool!
The song itself is a remake of a song from 1986 about a girl who works at a cigarette shop.
(Here’s the original.)
DIABLO – Breath (with Yoo Sae Yoon, VASCO, Polydive) ↓↓↓
Category – Metal
Diablo is a pretty successful band, especially considering that rock is not mainstream in Korea. They’ve been going since the 90’s.
This song in particular is awesome for me, because rapper VASCO features in it hahaha. Metal and my favorite rappers… perfect combination! (Yoo Sae Yoon is a comedian BTW, and Polydive is a DJ/producer.)
Mimi Sisters – [내 말이 그 말이었잖아요] ↓↓↓
Category: Indie Rock
This is a really fun little PV to watch!
Beast – No More ↓↓↓
Pretty MV… I mean, the place is pretty, the people are pretty… pretty, haha.
The concept probably hits home for people who’ve broken up with someone, but are still connected to their social media. (And how they’re still trying to get the other’s attention… indirectly communicating through photos… and are unable to move on because of it.)
I find the song itself to be pretty unique as well when combined with this MV, since the person who wants to move on is understanding and gentle about it. It’s just not common to see one person being totally done and ready to move on, but still holds enough affection for the other to want them to move on first. There’s just this wistful feeling of finality about this.
There’s a lot of subtle emotional parts in this MV, so I think it’s pretty good!
Crush – Hug Me (ft Gaeko) ↓↓↓
I love Gaeko… I like Crush… it’s a style I like, but I just can’t deal with the chorus. He repeats “hug, hug, hug me” too much and it feels cheesy.
Besides that chorus, I like the song, though. *sigh*
Taeyang – 1AM ↓↓↓
Compared to the last song Taeyang came out with last week, this one has more of a Big Bang sound, in my opinion, though it still feels like “Taeyang.”
Slight bed scene haha.
ToppDogg – TOPDOG ↓↓↓
Category: Kpop/Hip Hop
The intro to this is iconic as it’s also the intro to the famous H.O.T. song, “Iyah!” But then vears off into something else (original classical song it was taken from? lol).
I have to say, some of the concept is pretty unique. Futuristic classical music style? Instead of a rap or dance battle, it looks like a conductor battle. Has that really been done much before?
There are some good vocals in this group… I just think some of them need to work on their expressions. Sometimes their vocals were pretty intense or aggressive, but it didn’t show on their faces at all, so it lost effect. Maybe only about 3 of them were good with the acting?
I think the song itself is kind of messy, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy it lol
Boyfriend – Obsession ↓↓↓
Mmmm I like the concept their going with this time. Kind of the boyish gang thing that’s popular with kpop hip hop right now. But the theme is pretty original. It looks like it’s inspired by Peter Pan & the Lost Boys with the romance of a kidnapped Wendy… though at the end, it may be the beginning of Captain Hook lol
The song itself is pretty catchy, though nothing too unique.
ZE:A – Breathe ↓↓↓
When I saw the beginning, I was reminded of Beast’s “Breathe” MV. But the similarities stopped after the oxygen mask when it turned out they were from outer space. The MV has its pretty moments.
The song has a beat, but isn’t particularly catchy.
Psy – Hangover (ft Snoop Dogg) ↓↓↓
Another parody-style MV. It got a crazy amount of views in just 24 hours…
My personal opinion… eh. Kind of annoying, lol. The best part for me was seeing G-Dragon’s short cameo. Haha.
ULTIMA (울티마) – A Real Man (cover) ↓↓↓
Category: Hip Hop
Yeah, this is not an MV, but I had to put it in this week.
It’s a cover of Swings’ “A Real Lady” and I think it’s really interesting to hear a woman’s voice in this version.
Gummy – I loved… have no regrets ↓↓↓
It’s great to see Gummy doing well with her new label. Her voice especially shines towards the end of this song.
후레군 – 이불킥 ↓↓↓
Category: Indie Pop
The video is really nothing until about 2:21, and even then it’s not much lol, but the song is nice, though the vocals aren’t amazing.
B.Clique – Her ↓↓↓
Category: Hip Hop/R&B
Humorous MV. The song sounds great, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the lyrics were funny too.
VENNY – 떠도는 말 ↓↓↓
Category: Pop Rock/Ballad
Wow I love her voice.
Honey Finger 6 – 다음 날 ↓↓↓
The co-ed vocals harmonize well together. I also like the rhythm. Pretty easy-going.
Basket Note (바스켓노트) – 니무라까노↓↓↓
Category: Hard Rock
It looks like it’s live, but supposedly, the recording isn’t? IDK, lol… their website classified it as an MV, not “live.”
Lowfeels – Oasis ↓↓↓
Laid-back and kind of melodic rock.
…Whatever That Means – “Sixty-Eight, Twenty-Two” (feat. Won Jonghee of Rux) ↓↓↓
It’s all in English, with Korean subtitles. It has a kind of punk feeling.
Temporary Set – 이승환 In The Mood For Love (Acoustic ver.) ↓↓↓
This is a group of university students having fun… I’m not sure if they have a name for their band. I just used the YouTube channels’ name….
This is a charming cover of Lee Sung Hwan’s song. It sounds a lot different from the original, and I think I like it more.
Jubora – Happy (Cover) ↓↓↓
Female cover of Pharrells’s “Happy.”
Yoon Duk Won (윤덕원) – Cloudy Way ↓↓↓
Very simple MV. The song is relaxing, though somehow seems melancholy. Very nice voice.
Anna Lee (이안나) – We (우리) ↓↓↓
The MV is like art. Looks great!
Haze Moon (헤이즈 문) – Lying City ↓↓↓
Another song in English. The female vocalist,Emma Stillman, is Swedish.
Apparently the MV was filmed in Tokyo. The song is kind of haunting.
BadKidz – Father ↓↓↓
Is this a soundtrack for a movie…? I looked all over and couldn’t find info, but the quality of the video is pretty nice for a typical MV… though the content feels pretty melodramatic lol
BadKidz have done more club-like songs before, so wow.
빅 – 곰세마리 ↓↓↓
Category: Children’s Folk
So, this is a traditional children’s song. If you’ve watched certain dramas, you’ve probably been exposed to it.
It pretty much talks about “Papa bear, Mama bear, and Baby bear.” Pretty cute lol
