Our Happy Time/ Maundy Thursday Movie
My Score: 8/10 (9/10 if you like tear-jerkers)
★★★★☆
Director: Song Hae-Sung
Cast: Gang Dong-Won Lee Na-Young
Genre: Tear-Jerker/Romance/Drama
Summary: Originally a novel. There’s a short manga version as well called “Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan“.
A woman named Yu-Jung keeps trying to commit suicide… she’s angry each time they save her.
One day, her aunt, a nun, takes her to talk to a prisoner on death row. The prisoner had requested to see Yu-Jung. She reluctantly goes and they slowly become friends. As a result of their feelings for each other, these two people who wanted to die gradually change for the better.
Review: This was a huge tear-jerker. There is no way you can watch this all the way through without crying. If you like tear-jerkers, then it’d probably be a 9/10… I, however, do not like feeling upset to this extent, and so I give it a 8/10, haha… which is still the highest I’ve given a tear-jerker, besides maybe Windstruck.
I really feel they pushed the limit on how anguished they could make the sad scene be. It was one of the saddest movies I’ve ever seen.
Even so, it was a beautiful movie. Of course, right from the beginning you know what’s going to happen, but you just can’t stop watching. The relationship between the two is too sweet. Plus, there’s the mystery of their past lives. You keep wanting to know what happened to make them turn out the way they are; suicidal or in death row.
I also liked the character development… they’re both totally different by the end of the movie than the beginning.
My Score: 8/10
